Alex Pretti was a 37-year-old ICU nurse and lawful gun owner with a firearm permit. On January 24, 2026, at 09:05 CST, he was shot multiple times by Border Patrol agents near 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue in the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis.
Witnesses say ICE agents were attempting to enter a donut shop when two women began blowing whistles in protest. Officers pepper sprayed both women and Pretti. Approximately five seconds after attempting to take Pretti into custody, two officers fired at least ten shots.
Bystander video appears to show that Pretti held a cellphone in his hand — not a weapon — before he was wrestled to the ground.
Despite initial claims of "domestic terrorism," an internal CBP assessment made no mention of Pretti attacking officers or threatening them with a weapon.

Renée Nicole Good

Renée Nicole Good was a 37-year-old American citizen and mother of three who loved to sing and write poetry. On the morning of January 7, 2026, she had just dropped off her 6-year-old son at school.
According to her wife, Renée stopped to support neighbors when ICE agents were conducting an enforcement operation. Agent Jonathan Ross fired three shots into her vehicle, killing her.
"Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly that is bullshit... To ICE, get the fuck out of Minneapolis."
Governor Tim Walz proclaimed January 9, 2026, to be "Renee Good Day" in Minnesota. Her killing sparked national protests and multiple investigations.
